Check your ChatGPT ad landing page before you submit it
Blanc checks for free whether OAI-AdsBot, the crawler OpenAI uses to review every ad landing page, can reach and read your page. One check takes a few seconds and needs no sign-up.
What does the check look at?
3 groups of checks, run on the exact page you enter:
- Crawler access
- robots.txt rules for OAI-AdsBot (required) and OAI-SearchBot (recommended) at the exact landing page path, whether robots.txt can be read at all, and signs of a firewall or bot challenge.
- The link itself
- HTTP status, every redirect in the chain (a redirect to another site is flagged), HTTPS, response time (over 3 seconds is flagged), and whether the page still loads once UTM tracking and OpenAI’s click parameters are added.
- What the reviewer sees
- Login walls and CAPTCHAs in the page HTML, how much text the server sends before any JavaScript runs, and, if you add your ad text, whether the page matches it.
Why does an ad landing page need checking?
No ad can be approved until OAI-AdsBot, the crawler OpenAI uses to review every ad landing page, can reach it. If robots.txt, a firewall, a broken redirect or a login wall stops it, OpenAI support cannot bypass the check for you.
What do Confirmed and Possible mean?
Each finding carries 1 of 2 labels. Confirmed means we saw the problem directly, such as a robots.txt rule that blocks OAI-AdsBot or a link that breaks once tracking is added. Possible means it may affect OpenAI’s crawler, which we cannot imitate exactly, such as a firewall challenge or text that appears only after JavaScript runs. A page is marked blocked only when a confirmed problem is found.
Can the check find a login wall built with JavaScript?
No, not directly. The check reads the HTML your server sends and does not run scripts. When that HTML is an empty app container, as on many React, Vite and Lovable apps, a sign-in form drawn later by scripts would not show up, so the check warns that it could not look for one instead of passing the page. Open the page in a private browser window to confirm.
Does a clean result mean the ad will be approved?
No. Our scanner is not OpenAI’s crawler: it never pretends to be OAI-AdsBot, and firewalls can treat the two differently. OpenAI also reviews the ad itself against its policies, which this check does not cover. Use it to remove obvious blockers, then confirm the ad’s status in Ads Manager after you submit.
How do I check a landing page by hand?
